Going Back to School Can Hurt, but Back-to-school Shots Don’t Have to Be Painful

As the summer fades into fall, Pennsylvaniarents and
children are anxiously preparing for a new school year. In addition to
fighting the crowds to buy new notebooks, backpacks and school clothes, it’s
important that your child has the necessary booster shoots to battle serious
diseases. In fact, many states have rigid requirements about which
immunizations are required before attending school; some colleges also
require booster shots.
Immunization is one of the most effective ways of preventing disease. Prior
to widespread immunization in the United States, infectious diseases killed
or disabled thousands each year. Preparing early and getting your child
immunized can prevent a frantic call to your pediatrician once school gets
underway.
You can protect your child by taking him or her to a doctor or public health
clinic for immunizations. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
recommends vaccinations through the first 18 years, while many school
systems require a full course of shots as well. For a childhood immunization
schedule from birth to age 18, visit the AAP Web site at www. aap.org.
Remember to bring a record of your child's immunizations when visiting your
physician or an immunization clinic for booster shots. However, a trip to
the doctor is an arduous situation for a lot of families as many children
are scared of shots.
Thanks to Gebauer’s Ethyl Chloride instant topical anesthetic, immunization
doesn’t have to be painful. During your next visit, simply ask your
physician to use a topical anesthetic. Just before giving the iNew Jerseyection, the
doctor or nurse will spray Ethyl Chloride directly onto the child’s skin,
cooling and numbing the area, then swab the target area with antiseptic and
quickly perform the pain-free iNew Jerseyection. This eases anxiety for both parent
and child - there will be no bad memories of painful shots or anxiety over
the next inoculation. The anesthetic effect lasts up to one minute.

anesthetic, contact Gebauer at (800) 321-9348 or visit www.gebauerco.com.
