EMERGENCY COMFORT KITS or EMERGENCY SURVIVAL KITS
|
|
A comfort kit is a one-gallon plastic ziploc bag containing
basic emergency survival essentials. The emergency comfort kits are stored
in the classroom and are used for any natural disaster.
Local stores may be selling Emergency Comfort Kits or you can make you own
with your choice of items listed below:
13 ounces of juice in mini-cans (pop-top lids)
Pudding or ready to eat soup (pop-top lids)
Small box 11/16 oz cereal
Peanut butter or cheese crackers,
Granola type bar or candy bar
Dried fruit, fruit roll ups, or fruit cups,
Plastic utensils
Napkins
1 space blanket
1 large trash bag
Rain poncho
Small flashlight and batteries.
Large garbage bag
Flat packages of Wipe-Ups
Family picture and a sealed note from parent, assuring the student that the
family will be reunited as soon as possible.
All items must fit in one 1-gallon Ziploc type bag.
Be sure the Ziploc bag for the emergency comfort kit is securely closed.
No pop - stored water should be available.
Food snacks must be factory prepackaged, individually wrapped and pop-top or
easy to open containers.
Mark the emergency comfort kit with the students name and the teacher's
name.
Send the emergency comfort kit to school for placement with the student's
classroom emergency preparedness equipment.
Canned goods and drinks have a limited shelf life so replace those items in
the emergency comfort kit
every school year instead of sending last year's back to school.
Replace the flashlight batteries every year before sending to school.
